PRESS RELEASE NO. 2014-005
02 April 2014

DR. MAXIMO Q. MEJIA, JR. ADMINISTRATOR OF THE MARITIME INDUSTRY
AUTHORITY (MARINA) WARNS PUBLIC OF FRAUD SCHEME

There have been several reports across the country where a caller identifies himself as MARINA Administrator Maximo “Jun” Mejia, Jr. or purports to be his representative. The caller solicits money from the victim for supposedly laudable projects such as giving donations to the victimized officials and individuals who are linked the maritime industry for Tacloban relief activities, the construction of a church, a dental mission, among others.

Administrator Mejia and the rest of MARINA denounce this scheme and would like to warn the general public of this illegal activity. If you have been contacted by these fraudsters, please report it to your local police station or call the Office of the Administrator of MARINA at 523-9078, 526-0971 or 527-6247 or send email to [email protected] or [email protected]
