SECOJ MARITIME INSTRUCTORS TRAINING IN JAPAN

06 July – 06 August 2015 (Classroom Program)
06 November – 05 December 2015 (Onboard Program)


The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) invites qualified marine officers to participate in the selection process for the 2015 Maritime Instructors’ Training in Japan through the Seamen’s Employment Center of Japan (SECOJ), an authorized judicial foundation of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Tourism (MILT) of Japan. Six (6) slots are available for the Philippines and the Program will commence on 06 July 2015 and will end on 05 December 2015.

QUALIFICATIONS OF PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES
   In order to qualify, candidates must be:

  1. At least 25 years of age but not more than 49 years old at the time of the nomination;
  2. One who is connected in a recognized maritime educational institution and has a teaching career of at least one year;
  3. One who is not in the military service;
  4. One who is expected to continue to be engaged in maritime education or training for at least 5 years immediately following completion of the scheme;
  5. One who has a professional qualification as an operational level officer for international voyage stipulated under the STCW Convention 1978, as amended in 1995 or one who is equivalently competent to this qualification;
  6. One who is proficient in the English language;
  7. One who is confirmed healthy, both physically and mentally and does not need to have a dental treatment while staying in Japan.
  8. Applicants must have their passports valid for at least 1 year at the time of the commencement of the Training Program.

STRUCTURE OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM
  The training scheme consists of two phases:

  1. The on-board training;
  2. Classroom training, all to be administered in Japan.

• PROVISIONS FROM SECOJ
  SECOJ will shoulder all necessary costs such as:

  1. Round trip economy class air ticket,
  2. Clothing, training allowance, accommodation, local transportation:and,
  3. Medical expenses.

• DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF NOMINATIONS

Candidates are strongly advised to submit their duly accomplished nomination form including its required supporting documents not later than Friday, 08 May 2015. Nominations submitted beyond this date will not be given due consideration. Nomination Forms are available at the MARINA website at www.marina.gov.ph.
