Zero Casualty in “Ruby” Hit Region IV

Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Administrator Dr. Maximo Q Mejia Jr. (PhD) said that there was no reported accident or incident in maritime transport related to typhoon ‘Ruby’ (Hagupit) in Region IV covering the entire Southern Tagalog area.

In a report to Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio ‘Jun’ Aguinaldo Abaya, Administrator Mejia, said normal operations have resumed in Batangas Port as well as in Roxas Port, Oriental Mindoro.

Likewise, in the latest situational reports from the MARINA Region Office MRO IV, Mejia said normal operations have also resumed in Lucena Port, and other ports in Quezon, Romblon, Puerto Princesa and other ports in Palawan; Anilao, Mabini and Calatagan in Batangas.

“There are no more stranded passengers in all of these areas affected by typhoon Ruby’, according to the MARINA chief, but added that ‘our reminders to passengers and cargo handlers continue to be in place, aimed at continuing effecting a non-accident preemptive strategy, in coordination with the NDRRMC, PCG and PPA”.

In Roxas Port, there were only 60 units of rolling cargoes stranded but were expected to be on board on time. In Batangas Port, there are no more long lines of rolling cargoes in the access road, but there were in the marshaling areas, but were likewise expected to be boarded quite on time.

Mejia told Abaya in his report that normal sea conditions and sunny weather were expected within the next few days, as updates from MRO IV will be continuously transmitted to Mejia’s office.
